Utopia #9
A Bold and Evocative Dance Work
Created by Kit Reilly
Outlier - Kit Reilly
A new work commissioned for New Zealand School of Dance’s Performance Season 2023.
Review Extracts
“A standout choreography with reflections of sounds, rhythms and forms in natural surrounds.” - Jennifer Shennan
“Outlier by the multitalented Kit Reilly is a richly creative exploration of movement (seeded by distraction during a mediation class), that evolves into a work of collision and unity within a global environment of distraction and change. Reilly manipulates space and formation with an expert hand, building darkly to an abstract crescendo, and producing a work that is well-rounded and engaging.” - DANZ
“This piece was by far the highlight of the evening’s programme as the link between the dancers movement and music was coherent, complemented by unison dance that bound the work effectively. Pulsing resonating moments and some mesmerizing repeated actions that fit seamlessly into quick, stationary action and fluid, yet slick partnering. Some really fresh choreography here and Reilly should feel proud of this excellent piece of dance that binds the concept, the movement and the sound with intrinsic timing and purpose.” - Theatreview
